ART KANE'S NEWLY RESTORED FILM
You may know that visionary photographer ART KANE conceived and directed a film in 1967 called "A Time To Play" that was featured at the USA pavilion at Expo '67 in Montreal. It's use of three screens was way ahead of its time. Each screen is incredibly composed. The editing is brilliant. And as usual for Art Kane, it's a vision of a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic society that the world is still trying to catch up with.
With the exception of an old VHS tape, this amazing film has been pretty much MIA. Until now. Last week Jonathan Kane was contacted by some wonderful people at The National Archive in Washington DC and the University of Maryland, who have found and restored the original film. Amazing!
Have a look here. It's a short film of 20 minutes, and worth every second.

GOODBYE PAUL KANTNER OF JEFFERSON AIRPLANE/STARSHIP.
Goodbye Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane/Starship. What a long strange trip it's been since the Haight-Ashbury days of psychedelia. An era marked by Bill Graham's Fillmore, the Monterey festival, the "Summer of Love", the Trips festival, the "Gathering of the Tribes", and the music of the Grateful Dead, Big Brother & the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, Country Joe & The Fish, and of course the Airplane. Heady stuff. We celebrate Paul Kantner with this iconic image by Art Kane which in 1968 made the cover of an historic issue of "Life" magazine devoted to "The New Rock". We're very sad to announce that yesterday Signe "Toly Anderson, the original singer with the Airplane, also quietly passed away.
GOODBYE GLENN FREY OF THE EAGLES.
Goodbye Glenn Frey of The Eagles. The long heartbreaking goodbye to the trailblazers of the '60s and '70s generations has only just begun. Today we celebrate The Eagles' Glenn Frey with this historic portrait by Norman Seeff, taken in 1976 in Los Angeles around the time of their One Of These Nights album.
GOODBYE DAVID BOWIE!
Just three days after his 69th birthday and less than three months since the release of his latest album Blackstar, David Bowie has passed after a long battle with cancer. Gone is an absolute icon, not only of music, but of popular culture. In such a time of grief and loss we can only express our condolences to his family.
