Description
Published by Wall Of Sound Gallery to coincide with Guido Harari’s exhibition of his Kate Bush photographs at Snap Galleries in London, this book features a selection of images spanning from 1982 to 1993. Guido’s collaboration with Kate began in 1982 when she was promoting her album The Dreaming. Impressed by his work with her mentor Lindsay Kemp, Kate summoned Guido to shoot her official press photos for landmark albums like Hounds Of Love, The Sensual World and The Red Shoes, including a completely never-before-seen reportage on the set of Kate’s film The Line, The Cross & The Curve.
“I was familiar with her wild and esoteric imagery”, Guido recalls of the 1985 shoot for Hounds Of Love. “And I wondered which direction she would want to explore now with me. Was I to be swept in her creative maelstrom? Well, not really. It became clear that for once she wanted to strip herself of unwanted clichés and wild personas and asked me to capture something authentic, something as close as possible to “reality”. That had been the essence of my work with Lindsay Kemp and I believe that, without ever verbalizing it, she wanted me to move in the same direction with our shoot. I felt trust and complicity as we worked almost telepathically”.
This book is now sold out. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Hounds Of Love Guido plans to publish in 2015 a lavish limited edition book, The Kate Inside, full of unseen photographs from his entire Kate Bush archives, including a few suprirses as ephemera, test Polaroids and notes by Kate.
