Description

“Cristina does with her camera what I do with the guitar. You are the Endrix of photography.” Randy Hansen

“When you get photographed by Cristina, it is as if she becomes a component of old band data. She really manages to remove the deep soul of the artist she is photographing” Dennis Greaves, Nine Below Zero.

Wall Of Sound Editions is proud to present the work of Cristina Arrigoni and her first book, The Sound of Hands. It includes 60 photographs of “hands”, in color and in B / W, of musicians of the caliber of Johnny Winter, B.B. King, John Mayall, Jackson Browne, Wille Nile, Albert Lee, Charlie Musselwhite, Donovan and many others. The volume also includes portraits of each musician.

Cristina’s works are very engaging and emotional. His passionate vision and his understanding of the music he loves and the people he creates are a welcome change of gear compared to the traditional portrait of musicians. As Elliott Murphy, writes in the book, “his photographs always manage to capture magically the true essence of a musician’s journey, both on and off stage. In his works there are simultaneously hyperrealism and a transcendent quality that, at least for me, shows it among the best rock photographers of our time. And what could be more essential than the hands of a musician, with whom we try to make love with steel?”.

Cristina has very clear ideas about her mission as a photographer, which is to “discover and turn the spotlight on great unknown musicians from all over the world, and to offer them visibility thanks to my images. I want to show something of them that will remain forever. I look for beauty wherever it is, even in the most difficult situations.”

“Cristina is a visionary with the talent of knowing how to grasp the soul and the” heroic “quality of all that her gaze in grasping without mediation. She is capable of making a homeless man in New York City regal, and his hands destroyed and a drummer’s band say a lot about his passion, his motivations and his love for this life. Cristina has her own style and her greatness is directly proportional to her humility and grace.” Willie Nile
