ART KANE’S NEWLY RESTORED FILM, 2016

You may know that visionary photographer ART KANE conceived and directed a film in 1967 called “A Time To Play” that was featured at the USA pavilion at Expo ’67 in Montreal. It’s use of three screens was way ahead of its time. Each screen is incredibly composed. The editing is brilliant. And as usual for Art Kane, it’s a vision of a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic society that the world is still trying to catch up with.

With the exception of an old VHS tape, this amazing film has been pretty much MIA. Until now. Last week Jonathan Kane was contacted by some wonderful people at The National Archive in Washington DC and the University of Maryland, who have found and restored the original film. Amazing!

Have a look here. It’s a short film of 20 minutes, and worth every second.
