“ART KANE. HARLEM 1958”, NEW BOOK FOR THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HISTORIC PHOTO.

In November Wall Of Sound Editions will publish a new book, “Art Kane. Harlem 1958-The 60th Anniversary Edition”, curated by Art Kane‘s son, Jonathan, with forewords by Quincy Jones and Benny Golson, one of the last two living jazz legends (with Sony Rollins) who appeared in the iconic photo, and a text by Art Kane. The book showcases for the very first time evry single frame from the photo shoot which Kane did in August 1958 for a special jazz issue of Esquire, which was to be published in January 1959. Many never seen before images are featured in the book, along with the colour jazz portraits that Kane shot for the same Esquire issue, on set photography for the film Pete Kelly’s Blues, a reportage on Harlem Soul and a selection of images of a very young Aretha Franklin. The book is available both as a trade edition and a Deluxe edition of only 200 copies worldwide in a special box set. The Deluxe copies are signed and numbered by Quincy Jones, Benny Golson and Jonathan Kane, and include an exclusive signed Fine Art print and a celebratory poster. You can pre-order both editions here.
