Just three weeks after the release of his 14th album You Want It Darker, the great Canadian poet and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen suddenly passed away. He was 82. Since the 50’s Cohen published a great deal of poetry books and novels. It was only in 1967 that he launched a music career at age 33. Among his most famous and most covered songs are Bird on the Wire, Suzanne, Famous Blue Raincoat, Chelsea Hotel #2, and Hallelujah. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was a Companion of the Order of Canada, the nation’s highest civilian honor. In 2011, Cohen received one of the Prince of Asturias Awards for literature and the ninth Glenn Gould Prize.
GOODBYE LEONARD COHEN.
