HAPPY B-DAY FABRIZIO DE ANDRE'!
Happy B-Day Fabrizio De André who would turn 76 today! We celebrate him with this 1979 photograph by Guido Harari, who was the official photographer of Fabrizio's legendary tour with PFM. Guido has also put together a visual diary of that historic tour along with PFM's Franz Di Cioccio, Evaporati in una nuvola rock, published by Chiarelettere. The book features contributions by all the original band members, Fabrizio's wife Dori Ghezzi, Fabrizio's son Cristiano De André, Vasco Rossi, Angelo Branduardi, Claudio Baglioni, Davide Riondino, Lucio Salvini and more.
ART KANE'S NEWLY RESTORED FILM
You may know that visionary photographer ART KANE conceived and directed a film in 1967 called "A Time To Play" that was featured at the USA pavilion at Expo '67 in Montreal. It's use of three screens was way ahead of its time. Each screen is incredibly composed. The editing is brilliant. And as usual for Art Kane, it's a vision of a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic society that the world is still trying to catch up with.
With the exception of an old VHS tape, this amazing film has been pretty much MIA. Until now. Last week Jonathan Kane was contacted by some wonderful people at The National Archive in Washington DC and the University of Maryland, who have found and restored the original film. Amazing!
Have a look here. It's a short film of 20 minutes, and worth every second.
