Description

The peek of the baby girl, gentle and curious, is lost in the horn of the trumpet. Fascinated by the mysterious miracle of music. The sound captures you, the melody seduces. No recording system, not even the most sophisticated, could replace the magic of listening: joyously evanescent, unrepeatable. Yet a photo can do it. One click can capture the essence of the musical message, finding it in the unfolding of the artist’s expressions or gestures. And then this opens up another expressive alphabet for the public, not literally auditory, but resonating on an emotional level. Looking at Guido Harari’s photography, we music lovers find ourselves like that curious baby girl, seduced by the spell of the only possible universal language.

It had to happen, sooner or later, that Ravello and its Festival crossed paths with Guido Harari’s, a virtuoso photographer, a musician by vocation and not by trade. It’s particularly significant that this should happen this year as enchantment is the Festival’s main theme: there is something sparkling indeed in the artist’s eyes, a flash of creativity very much like magic. Being able to capture and deliver it to the public is the privileged task of top-class photographers.

The images on display in Ravello offer an absolute crossover gallery of artists, shifting with ease from pop to classical to jazz, with the common denominator of the charisma radiating from each of them, and of the musical references taken into account. In this, also in this, Sonica naturally fits into the format of the Ravello Festival, which by choice sets no limits and no boundaries to its offer. Quality is the one essential, discriminating factor. In this circumstance, Villa Rufolo adds its charms and beauty to these fascinating contents: as a matter of fact every precious painting requires a fitting frame.
