Description
BEFORE INVENTING STORIES, WRITING, OR BRINGING THEM TO THE STAGE, DARIO FO DREW.
His passion for painting was the spark that ignited his boundless creativity — one of the most pervasive elements in his theatre, yet also one of the least known and explored.
An artistic, personal, and civic passion, long preserved within the vast Rame Fo Archive, is brought together here for the first time in a carefully curated and fascinating journey into the irrepressible imagination of the great Nobel Prize laureate.
More than 350 works — largely unpublished treasures including preliminary drawings, paintings, sketches, poster designs, texts, working materials, discarded drafts, and notes — have been selected and woven together by Mattea Fo, Stefano Bertea, and Guido Harari.
Together, they trace the defining moments of Fo’s artistic and personal life: from his youth and his encounter with Franca Rame, through the years of political engagement, to the international acclaim and prestigious honours that followed.
A celebration and rediscovery of one of the most significant figures in twentieth-century Italian culture.
