GOODBYE PAUL KANTNER OF JEFFERSON AIRPLANE/STARSHIP, 2016

Goodbye Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane/Starship. What a long strange trip it’s been since the Haight-Ashbury days of psychedelia. An era marked by Bill Graham’s Fillmore, the Monterey festival, the “Summer of Love”, the Trips festival, the “Gathering of the Tribes”, and the music of the Grateful Dead, Big Brother & the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, Country Joe & The Fish, and of course the Airplane. Heady stuff. We celebrate Paul Kantner with this iconic image by Art Kane which in 1968 made the cover of an historic issue of “Life” magazine devoted to “The New Rock”. We’re very sad to announce that yesterday Signe “Toly Anderson, the original singer with the Airplane, also quietly passed away.
